The best $25 I've ever spent

About two weeks ago, I dropped off three quilts to Asta, a professional longarm quilter I recently met. She basted two of the quilts (one is getting quilted) for only $25 each! I picked them up yesterday and it is the best money I think I've ever spent! No pinning, no crouching, no back-pain, no cursing or frustrated yelling; all-in-all there was NO STRESS!

I feel like a lottery winner!!

This quilt was made from a pattern called "Spin Cycle" by Cluck Cluck Sew

and I used a fat quarter bundle of Glamping fabric. I don't know if you notice but the curtains hanging up are also from the Glamping collection (note: I'm not a pro at curtain-making). The piecing of the quilt came together pretty easy, it was fun to make, and it finishes at 75" x 75".

Asta basted it using long stitches in a grid pattern every 6 inches or so, and it should be a breeze to take them out as I'm quilting it.

I have no idea what pattern I'm going to use to quilt it, but I can't wait until it's finished! It's the first quilt I've made for myself since I made my very first quilt--and unfortunately, that one isn't big enough to cover me!

This one is big enough for me and maybe even a couple of extra-snuggly little cherubs.

Finally back (sigh of relief)

Oh my, it feels like I haven't blogged in forever! We finally got both our computers fixed, and it feels so nice to be back in the real world. Here's some of the things that I've been up to lately...

After 3 very long drives to Ikea, fighting the crazy crowds, and standing in insane lines I finally got some new furniture. I went alone, and thanks to the generosity of some kind strangers, I was able to get it all loaded into our truck.

ikea hutch 2

This hutch is a little empty right now, but I planned on using it store quilts. After putting it together I realized I don't have many quilts that aren't used daily, so hopefully soon I'll have it all filled up. Isn't that clock awesome??? I love it!

ikea plaid pillow

I also got a new sofa but grabbed the wrong cover by accident, so for now I can only show you the throw pillow I got. It's so perfect for fall!

ikea lanterns

I also picked up some of these cute lanterns at only 2 pounds each (about $3). They look wonderful in my dining room with my black plaid curtains and white pumpkins centerpiece. I really wanted white pumpkins and couldn't find them anywhere, and my dad was nice enough to get some at Target and send to me. Thanks Dad!!

Another fall accessory was a cute table topper quilt I won from a Fig Tree & company giveaway. I really, really wanted this, and was beyond ecstatic when I won it!

Fig tree was also selling some halloween fabric bundles, but I missed out, so I searched until I found all of these...

halloween fabric stack

I just have no idea what I'm going to make with them...and I've been so busy sewing my Christmas presents that I haven't had a whole lot of time for anything else. I'm way behind, even though Christmas is still two months away! Here's some sneak peeks...

I'm making my sweet sister, Cayla, a herringbone quilt

and some scraps and stack of blocks from the quilt I'm making for my mom

winter's lane quilt scraps

I have another one that I'm working on for my other sister, Casie, but any sneak peak would ruin the whole surprise. Hopefully very soon I can show you because it's the one I think I'm excited about the most. I also have a few that I dropped off at the quilter's to baste, and as soon as I get those back I'll show you some pics.

And for the last thing within this post, I have been working on some crochet...this one I think is the most "me". But I can't take credit for it. I was completely inspired by a blog I recently discovered, Hopscotch Lane. I started it after seeing this photo here.

granny square crochet

I carry all the yarn around with me in a grocery store bag (yes, it's classy), and work on it whenever a free moment presents itself (not very often).

I love this yarn

All the yarn is "I Love This Yarn" from Hobby Lobby. It's so soft, and inexpensive, and is very easy to crochet. I really do "Love" that yarn.

Anyway, thanks for trucking through this post with me--I'm sorry I tried to cram so much in. But it feels so nice to be blogging again!!!
